Welcome to Alden Central School District's Occupational Therapy website!
OT services are currently provided in all four buildings within the district. Various activities are encouraged to improve your child's needs in one or more of the following areas as they relate to school performance: sensory integration, gross motor, fine motor, perceptual motor, and self-care skills. General information about OT and suggestions for the development of specific skills are included on our website.
As always, we welcome parental involvement and input. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, concerns, or for an update on your child's progress in therapy.

Suggestions for Improving Fine Motor Skills
You will find suggestions posted on our website that provide helpful hints to improve various fine motor skills addressed in therapy.
Remember that posture is very important. A child should be positioned in a chair so that his/her back is against the chair and feet are flat on the floor. The child's arms should be placed comfortably on the desk/table. If the child's shoulders are up in the air or elbows are far out, the desk is too high. If the child has to lean over to complete his/her work, the desk is too low.
