Make sure the website you are using for research is reputable by answering YES or NO to the following questions:
Accuracy
1. Did you compare the information you found on this site to at least two other very reliable sources?
2. Does the information found on this website match information found in your other sources? If it does not match what your other sources are saying, that is a sign that the information is not accurate - find another site!
Currency
3. Can you tell when the site was last updated?
Authority
4. Can you tell who is responsible for the content of this site? (either an individual person or a company/institution/organization) If you cannot, I would strongly advise you find a different site that can be associated with an individual creator or a company/orginzation/institution!
5. If you answered yes to question #4, and the creator is an individual person, do they list their credentials, including professional experience and/or education?
6. If you answered yes to question #5, are their credentials valid enough to make them experienced and knowledgeable on your particular topic or subject? For example, if the website is about teeth whitening, is the author/creator a Dentist?
Objectivity
7. If the creator of the site is listed as an organization, institution, or company, and no individual names are given, do they give background on their purpose and mission? Depending on their mission & your topic, be critical of the content. They may be trying to "sell" you on an idea or a product!
*If you answered NO to any of these questions, take a second look at your website to make sure it is academic & reliable enough for research. Please ask Mrs. Sobol to review the site with you if you are unsure!
